Change yourself. Change India.

The weekend had arrived, my cousin and I planned to take a small tour to The Brigade road. And as usual, twas buzzing with people. While we were exploring the shops, I noticed a rich, young girl throw a tissue paper on the footpath. It irritated me.

It irritates me when I see people litter the public area.These are the same people who complain that our government is inefficient. These are the people who say that our laws are too old, municipality doesn't pick up garbage, phones don't work, railways and airways are a joke etc etc etc.

I agree, our Indian government is not perfect. Okay, it's nowhere near good either. But are we good citizens in the first place?

Let's say, you go to Switzerland. You don't dare to throw cigarette butts on the roads. You're ready to pay 5 Euros to use the beautiful driveway. Back in India, you would hesitate to pay the tollbooth and prolly say to your wife, "Kitna lootenge saale?". (How much will they loot us).
You wouldn't dare to go out without your head covered with Jeddah in Dubai. You wouldn't dare to buy an employee of telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds a month to, "See to it that my STD, ISD calls are billed to someone else. You wouldn't dare to speed in California and then tell the cop, "Jaanta hai main kaun hoon?". (Do you know who I am?)" I'm so and so's son. Here, take 2 bucks and get lost".
You wouldn't dare to throw coconut shells on the beaches of Australia. You wouldn't spit pan on the streets of Tokyo. You wouldn't show fake certificates to join a college in UK.

You take your dog out for a walk to let it shit on roads and then you criticize the municipality workers for not having cleaned your area.
Do you think that they don't have better work. Just follow you and your dog with a broomstick and wait until it shits?
You're also very good at creating nuisance - You skip the signals which sometimes kill the innocent. You park your car in the middle of the road. You honk near the hospitals. You play loud music at 1 in the night so that your whole colony gets to know what your favorite band is.

YOU DO EVERYTHING.

You can respect other countries' rules and regulations but cannot do that in your own country?

You don't become a good citizen by just casting your vote or paying a visit to your kid's school on Independence Day or Republic Day.
It's a shame that you forfeit all your responsibilities on the government and just sit back, wanting to be pampered by the government.

You want India to be as clean as Japan, right? Well, stop littering. Teach your kids the same. Remember, cleanliness is next to godliness.
You want India to be free of corruption, right? Well, first make sure your hands are clean.
You don't like nuisance, right? Take a tour into your past and think of all the things you've done which might have irritated other people.
You don't think twice before buying yourself a nice car. Then why hesitate to pay the taxes? Don't you wanna drive your nice car on a nice road?

CHANGE YOURSELF.

Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azaad, Rajguru, Veer Sawarkar, Subhas Chandra Bose didn't get you independence to rape India like this.

You can bring about a tiny revolution only if you change yourself, change the people around you.

I've been told from the beginning that India is "Developing". But I want to tell my kids that "India is the best".
