Happiness is...

We forever bask in a lie on how to lead a happy life : discover your hidden passion, something you love doing, lock yourself up in a room and work really hard and success is all yours. With opulent success comes a load of happiness.
Well, I beg to differ. And so does a page on Facebook – The Happy Page.
It exhibits that happiness comes by doing trivial things.
Things such as: making a kid smile, annoying your friend, reading a book, going on long drives, being a dog, ringing a door bell and running away...

We all have dreams and aspirations; we obsess about it night and day and get ourselves all worked up. We wire our minds into thinking that we will achieve happiness only after achieving success. But only few of us realize that there is a queue of other problems waiting for us once we reach our self-set-epitome of success.
Travel down your memory lane and jot down the things that make you happy. Now lend yourself a day from your busy life and do those things.

  • Create something, anything. A poem, a drawing, paper plane
  • Play with kids
  • Talk to an old person, make them feel good about themselves
  • Help your maid in doing the dishes
  • Make coffee for your mom
  • Call that old friend of yours, make up with your enemy
  •   Run a mile before sunrise, sleep on the roof at night
  • Watch a silly RomCom, engross yourself in a book
  • Give a generous tip
  •  Offer your seat to an elderly person
  • Compliment people
  • Talk to that silent girl whom nobody notices
  • Smile, always

Happiness comes by doing frivolous things which most of us are inclined to ignore because we consider it insignificant. But these insignificant things add up to something that makes us pleasant, jovial and happy inside-out.
